Heigh ho, heigh ho

Seventy degree days always make me smile. But seventy degree days in November make me giddy!!! We spent our gorgeous Sunday appreciating the wonderful hiking of Shades State Park with Auntie Meg. Before we even entered the park a bald eagle gave us a personal fly-by. It was breathtaking. It was so great to get out and feel the fresh air fill our burning lungs. Little man kept Josh's pace slow and steady by adding 26 pounds to his back.

As my feet were soggy from missteps in wet creek beds, I really appreciated the beauty of the baby backpack. Next summer I doubt we will be able to get away with having Hudson out of the mud and muck. A walk in the woods will require a full clothing change. He already wants to get down and "touch" (his FAVORITE word) the trees, sticks, leaves, rocks, and so many things he doesn't even know about yet.

Hudson is noticeably a better walker on uneven terrain. Just a month ago walking around our backyard presented many falls, but today, he really showed how far he has come. He seemed to like the scrunching sound of walking through leaves. Who doesn't?

Sadly tonight (post outdoors walk) we retired his first pair of real shoes, the blue Striderites pictured. Those sure did not last very long!!! I had his feet measured yesterday and he is a six-six and a half now. So, we are moving into a pair of Robeez treds.

Don't we all look happy? Meg took this great shot of us. I want to make it our Christmas card. What a wonderful weekend! My only wish was that I had worn waterproof shoes.
