Stress UPDATED!

Since he was just a couple of weeks old, Hudson has been on a waiting list for a daycare at our local hospital. Recently, we were told that we will not know whether or not he is “in” for yet another month. The start of school is August 10th, so I am starting to get anxious as to what we are going to do. This morning we returned to another daycare possibility to visit it for the second time. Even though they are very different options, I am sure he will be happy and well-cared for at both locations. Yet, it is hard to know what to tell one when you are waiting for another. Plus this is obviously not something I want to even think about after having such a lovely time with just Hudson after years of working full time with hundreds of other kids.

So, we left that stressful moment and headed to the pediatric eye specialist. The doctor was very good with Hudson who has a condition called entropion. Although there is a possibility that with additional maturity to the size and shape of his face he might outgrow this, it is unlikely and we are going to schedule surgery for early fall. (We will return to the doctor near his one year birthday to guarantee surgery is necessary.) Until then, he will get a nightly dose of medicine to his eye to ensure that damage to his cornea doesn’t happen while we are waiting for him to get old enough for the outpatient surgery. With his eyes all dilated and Bambi-like, the sunlight is bothering him even more than normal (which is pretty bad). So, we are sitting here today inside with our family room as dark as I can make it.
***Hudson's surgery will be Friday, September 4th. They schedule the time based on age, therefore we won't know specific times until the week before. He should be one of the youngest patients so it should be in the a.m.

I'm so sorry to hear about Hudson. Do what you can for him, love him and make him comfortable. As I have learned over the past 9 months with Spencer, things can always be worse. Be thankful that he is able to see you and Josh, the sun (as bad as it hurts), and every other small detail in life. You are in our prayers.
