Hudson is showing tremendous improvement with this language development over the past month. Overnight, it seems, he is piecing two and three words together into little sentences. It is really awesome to observe. Ironically though, he has some serious frustrations understanding one of the first concepts he mastered: MORE. Specifically, he does not get it when I say, "no more". He just does not seem to understand --or accept-- the reality that something he wants is "all gone".
Last week I took little man to his first minor league baseball game after our picnic lunch I got us a bucket of popcorn for dessert. Just like his mama, and his namesake, Hudson loves popcorn. He is super cute when he eats it because he will grab a fistful, but only eats it one piece at a time. Anyway, when the popcorn was gone, he just beside himself.This is how he is with everything. He acts devastated if Handy Manny is all gone. If his ice cream treat is all gone. If slide time is all gone. If the water (from the garden hose) is all gone. Makes me yearn for days when big sentences will be superceded by just a little more comprehension.
Yet, it is heartbreakingly impossible to deny his every request when he looks up at you and works the perfect combination of sign language with the spoken word, "pppppppppppppp-ease?????" Heck, he really needs to say nothing else.

Oh how I can relate! "All gone, all done, no more..." they just don't seem to believe it! My favorite is that Ayden just doesn't seem to understand that even if he asks for "more" that doesn't mean he's going to get it. "You've had enough" is also a tough concept to grasp when they are being as polite as possible and saying "more please." Looks like you guys had fun at the game, though...even if all the popcorn mysteriously disappeared on the little guy!
